Sharks
Sharks seem to be the fish every diver wants to see. Fortunately, the ones you're most likely to see around Southeast Asia are fairly tame, and generally won't attack divers.
Whitetip Reef Shark
Scientific name: Triaenodon obesus
A Whitetip Reef Shark - Photographed around Komodo, Indonesia
The whitetip is one of the most common reef sharks, that you'll find throughout tropical waters. I've seen them at Tioman as well as several spots around Komodo. It is not aggressive and will generally swim away from you.
Please note: Identification of fish, corals, etc. is a tricky business. It's entirely possible that I've incorrectly identified a photo I've taken. If you spot an error, please contact me so I can correct it and improve this resource.
