A school of (female) Sea Goldie - Photographed around the Maldives
These true "goldfish" are found throughout the Indian Ocean and western Pacific. Actually, only the females are gold, the males are fuschia with a red patch on their pectoral fin. Like many reef fish, on the death of the male in a school, the dominate female will turn into a male.
Please note: Identification of fish, corals, etc. is a tricky business. It's entirely possible that I've incorrectly identified a photo I've taken. If you spot an error, please contact me so I can correct it and improve this resource.
