Getting to the Perhentian Islands

Traveling to the Perhentians is a bit complicated. Starting from Kuala Lumpur, you can fly either Malaysia Airlines or Air Asia to either Kuala Terengganu or Kota Bahru. From either city, you need to make your way by taxi to the pier at Kuala Besut. Kota Bahru is, in fact, the closer airport to the pier. From the pier, you take the a boat to the Perhentians. It's a 90 minute trip by the slow boat, while a speed boat takes only 30 minutes.
