Tatawa Besar is a small island east of Komodo Island. The currents here run north - south, so check which way they're going and drift along. Be careful of strong up and down currents. The down current can pull you into deep water if you're not careful.

This is another site where you'll spot green turtles, and at the right time of year, mantas. I also spotted a number of lionfish on this dive.

However, the outstanding thing about this dive site is the variety of corals, both hard and soft. I can highly recommend a sunset dive here, when the coral polyps come out, turning the dull brown tree corals into bright orange flowers.

The smaller neighboring island of Tatawa Kecil is also a good dive site.
