I last dived this site on 5 May 2009
Payung is a small island off the northwest coast of Rinca. It offers a couple of interesting, and relatively easy, dives. Large boulders off the southern side create some fine walls, while on the north side, the coral has been heavily degraded, but it is still good for macro diving. I spotted several pufferfish, a moray eel and several types of clownfish here.
The reef is also where I saw the only sea snake spotted around Komodo., as well as several lionfish.
There are a couple other dive sites in this general area, commonly referred to as the Three Sisters and Pillarsteen.
